I grew up in the world of competitive swimming, but have turned my hand like most kids, doing any sport possible. I eventually turned to football and played to a decent level playing semi pro for a few years. An ACL injury turned me to Triathlon and I joined up with KTC just after it started as a club. I have completed many trips through the years from sprint to IM and have 4 half and 4 full IM races in me. As a triathlete, I’m a swimmer and from then on a very average cyclist and runner.
I have since started coaching swimming and am qualified to L2 as a swim teacher, L1 assistant coach and L2 coach through Swim England. Swimming is the best part for me and I see my role as a swim coach to help everyone to be the best swimmer they can be, as it sets up the rest of the race – you don’t win a tri on the swim but you can certainly lose one there. It is also the only sport that will save your life. Work hard, then enjoy it – we choose to do this, so make it fun.
